Giving away

So I find out now that Livejournal is no longer free. I hadn't noticed this, as I seldom use it. My friend Aaaron I think still uses it all the time, but I haven't bothered to check yet. Another friend here at school wanted to use it, I recommend it, but he can't use it because he doesn't have some kind of activation code. Well, I just gave him one. How exciting my life is...

Did YOU know that in a manufacturing process where you have multiple inputs, the optimal output quantity can be found by setting all the marginal products over their respctive prices equal to the opportunity cost? I bet you did not.

Nor do I...yet I must know it by 8AM tomorrow! FUCK YEAH!!!

I just got back from pizza hut where I enjoyed an ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET. The best part being it was ALL I COULD EAT, which is quite an impressive quantity. Actually I should stop doing crap like that otherwise my fat ass will become larger, and they'll charge me a weight surcharge when I fly home. That would suck.

Okay, just had my Finance final. That was fun! I got so sick of trying to actually work the problems that I started ensuring that indeed I still remembered my alphabet. It went something like this:

Question 1: blah blah blah....internal rate of return....blah blah blah....cost of capital.....blah blah blah.....what's the marginal cost of capital?

My response: One MILLION dollars....

Question 2: blah blah blah....marginal tax rate....blah blah blah....MACRS depreciation.....blah blah blah......how much do they owe in taxes?

My response: I do not like the IRS -- I like cookies and milk.

It went well, wouldn't you say?

Okay, so it's been awhile. Aaron will be pissed, since he's the only one who reads this stuff, I think. Anyway, we're in the middle of finals here at Lehigh fucking University and yet I have not had one yet. First one is tomorrow, Finance 125, which is optional so who gives a damn? Two on Wednesday, one on Thursday and then I get the hell out of here on Friday. Friday will not come soon enough.

Aaron appears to have fallen off the face of the earth, as he is never on AOL anymore, and I can't get to him and "pipe2grep" has been down since he moved, which would make sense. So the purpose of me logging onto Livejournal tonight was merely to see if he was still alive. Indeed he is.

Well today I installed Windows 2000 on my laptop!!! It actually went quite well -- there were a couple problems with it, but overall I was impressed. Basically when I first tried to install it, it automatically setup itself as a dual boot with W98 and W2K -- which I didn't want. So I ended up having to boot from floppies, completely repartition the hard drive and do a completely clean install of 2K, which is probably best anyway.

Well, gotta' run -- The Practice is on ABC!

It is 7:38, and I do not have class until 9:10, yet I am up, dressed, and have just eaten breakfast. I am proud of the fact that I ate breakfast way early, and beat the ROTC idiots who go in around 7:30. They're some of the most rude, discourteous assholes on the planet. I think they have their rifles shoved up their ass or something. Oh well, glad my tax dollars are going to something useful.

Now I will begin my accounting homework that is due tomorrow. It looks pretty easy, so I think I'll be able to get it done before I must go to class around 8:50 or so.

Okay, so I go over to Rauch, and guess who wasn't in her cubicle?!?! Yep!!!! The TA!!! So I go up another flight of stairs (way sucks) and go see the professor's door, thinking maybe he had a sign up saying to go somewhere else, etc. Since the exam is tomorrow, maybe they were expecting a flood, etc., whatever. Hey, it could happen. It didn't though.

So anyway, it says that he has office hours today from 2:00-3:45, which is dandy, so I have to go BACK down later, and then head straight to work. In this dead time I elected to walk over to the post office, which brought me much delight, as my package of DAT tapes has arrived.

These DAT tapes are some no-name brand (quite possibly the shittiest DAT tapes known to man) but they were way way cheap, so I bought a box of 30s and a box of 60s. Now I just need a DAT machine....

Well fuck this -- now I have to go to talk to my damn TA for Fin 125. She's down to earth and is a big help, but I really don't want to walk all the way from here to to the business center. That blows. It's really not that far, but once I get there, I dunno where her office is. It's either 207 or 211 (either way, I will need to walk up the stairs which alos blows) but I have no idea where she actually is. Once in 207 or 211, she could be at any number of little cubicles. This will be fun fun fun!

Well, as you can see from the 12:39 posting, I fucked up my Eco 115 exam today. I guess the bright side is that I now have 3 exams remaining this week. Oh yay. Higher education rocks.

Well Eco 115 can suck my balls. First hourly exam today -- and my god, what a bitch. I just sat there and gazed at the first problem for like 5 minutes tryting to figure out how the hell to do it. So I did what anyone would do: skipped it and moved on to number 2. To my dismay, same shit. So I moved on to the third one -- and alas success!!! I could do this one!!! It was only a 3 question exam, but each had like 50 parts, etc. I could actually do all of question 3.

So once completed part 3, and still not feeling real confident, I went back to questions 1 and 2. I got 2 within the last ten minutes and had little time to actually _do_ it. Part 1 was a quick "fill some shit in and hope that something makes sense" type deal. So hopefully I'll get _something_ for it. God I hope it's curved -- have I mentioned how much I love normal distributions? Ahh the beauty of a bell curve....

Well this is stupid. The District Court in San Francisco has allowed Napster to hang around for now, but they basically said that they had a good case against them for copyright infringement. That's crazy - I wonder if these stupid old fuck judges actually know the law or not. Napster isn't infringing on anyone's copyright. The users of Napster sure as hell are (most of them, at least) but you can't hit the company for it just because they provide the service.

If someone makes an illegal copy of a CD can you sue Sony, HP, and all the other CD-R manufacturers. I sure hope that those judges never tape anything from television to watch later -- that's an infringement on the producer AND the television station's copyright. I'm sure they know that though -- they seem to have a firm grasp on Title 37 of the Code of Federal Regulations and Title 17 of the United States Code.

I wish I had an IQ of 50, so I could become a federal judge too.

Well I just got back from work. God that was fun -- sitting for 4 hours on my ass waiting for people to come up and ask me stupid questions. They switched off our non-SSL mail servers today, so we were expecting a ton of calls from people who couldn't check their e-mail (morons who haven't told their software to use SSL yet despite our repeated demands), yet nobody called.

Now I'm back in my room with little to do. No classes today or tomorrow, which is nice, but makes you a bit lost. I should be stuyding for my accounting exam coming up later this week, but quite frankly, I think I know my stuff, so it's not worth my time to keep looking at it. I might work on my RMP study stuff, since I have to do that exam later this week too, but that's dull too.

Oh well, we shall see...

We are quickly approaching the beginning of our spring Pacing Break here at Lehigh University. It's basically a four day weekend that they throw in each semester, and it's really cool because the campus clears out completely. Most people are from NY, NJ, or PA here, and so they all live close enough to go home for the long weekend, leaving those of use who cannot get home easily here. It's so nice to have the place so quiet and empty!! And further, only 4 weeks until Spring Break! This semester goes so fast!!!

Now I am searching PALCI for some radio books. You will note that I am not taking any courses in radio whatsoever -- this is for my own mere personal enjoyment. PALCI is this group of academic libraries in Pennsylvania that all share library resources. Very similar to an interlibrary loan, but much faster and within the state of PA. $30,000 buys you some handy resources!

So after class I raced to the post office to get my Wall Street Journal, otherwise they throw it away (which is nice, after you pay in advance for it), then raced back down the big massive hill on which this brilliant instution of higher learning is built in (you can sure tell it's a damn engineering school), to my marketing meeting, which actually went quite well. I guess I shouldn't complain -- charcoal is just carbon, and we are made of carbon, so that means I'm getting back to basics, right?
